LeBron James is closing in on a signature moment, scoring his 40,000 NBA point, but just when will it happen? We have the details. The NASCAR drivers are out of the rain in Daytona and making the rounds in Atlanta and we have our eye on a former champ who likes the scene. The PGA Tour stop is in Mexico with a below average field, which means it’s time for a dark horse to rise.
Best Bets of the Weekend for All Sports | February 24
NBA: LeBron James 40,000 Point Game Best Bet
Vs. Denver Nuggets (+430) at FanDuel
LeBron is already the all-time leading scorer in NBA history and is closing in on becoming the first 40,000 point milestone.
Entering play Thursday, he’s at 39,868 points and sportsbooks have odds posted on just what game LeBron will hit 40K. By the math, he should do it in six games. LeBron is averaging just under 25 points a game.
The Lakers play Golden State, San Antonio, Phoenix, the Clippers, Wizards and then the defending NBA champions Denver Nuggets March 2.
That game is already slated to be a national TV broadcast, it’s a rematch of the 2023 Western Conference finals. There will be a lot of media focus on this game being the moment. The odds here are great to slot in while you still can.
PGA Tour: Mexico Open Best Bet
Keith Mitchell Top 10 Finish (+250) at BetMGM
This is only the third year that the Mexico Open is an officially sanctioned event on the PGA Tour calendar. It takes place at the par-71 Vidanta Villarta with an $8.1 million purse.
After Pebble Beach and the Genesis Open (hosted by Tiger Woods), this isn’t the best field in the world. Tony Finau, ranked No. 24 in the world and the defending champ, is the highest profile golfer.
Don’t fall for Finau winning this event. Golfers don’t repeat as champs much. Mitchell, a 32-year-old Tour vet from Chattanooga played well in Phoenix with four rounds under 70 finishing 17th and was ninth in The American Express event. He’s one of the best golfers in the field and should contend all the way.
NASCAR: Ambetter Health 400 Best Bet
Ryan Blaney Top 5 Finish (+140) at DraftKings
Blaney got caught in a big crash early in the Daytona 500 and finished 30th. It was a disappointing start for the defending NASCAR Cup Series champion.
Now Blaney returns to Atlanta where he won in 2021 and had one of the best moments of his career. Blaney’s father Dave was a long-time NASCAR Cup driver who raced 473 times, but never won. The closest he came was in Atlanta in 2001 when he led for 70 laps, but lost a wheel late in the race.
Fords usually do well in Atlanta. Joey Logano won this race in 2023, William Byron the year before that. Blaney will be around the leaders all day, which makes him a good Top 5 bet.
