It’s Final Four weekend and we’ve got your best picks for the Men’s Final Four in Phoenix. U. Conn is an obvious pick, but can NC State stick with Purdue? For our third pick, we’re closing in on Masters week and the best players in the PGA Tour are in San Antonio. It’s a great weekend of sports.
Best Bets of the Weekend for All Sports | April 6-7
NCAA Final Four: U.Conn vs. Alabama Best Bet
U.Conn -11.5 (-112) at BetMGM
This is the obvious pick right? Sometimes you just shouldn’t overthink things. U.Conn has been the favorite to win the NCAA title for weeks. They have so many weapons in Tristen Newton and Cam Spencer et al, and playing amazing defense.
What happens to teams like Alabama against U.Conn is they end up thinking they have to rush their shots because U.Conn is so efficient on offense and that causes problems. Alabama is the best offense in the country at 90 points a game. Mark Sears is a stud for the Tide, but I don’t see Alabama shooting that well.
I think the same thing that happened to Illinois in the Elite 8 happens to Alabama. The Tide get behind early and get more desperate as the lead widens.
NCAA Final Four: NC State vs. Purdue Best Bet
NC State +9.5 (-114) at FanDuel
Let me be clear right away and say I do not think NC State wins this game. I think Purdue and Zach Edey inside are too good, but I don’t think it will be easy.
The NCAA Tournament is such a big deal and it’s so hard to win because to me it’s almost like three different tournaments. The first weekend is bonkers with all of the small schools and mid-majors, then it gets a little more competitive with the Sweet 16 and Elite 8. Now, it may not be the best four teams…but it’s the most resilient and confident.
You have to love what NC State has done, coming from nowhere in the ACC Tournament just to steal and bid and now they’re here. The school authored one of the greatest March Madness stories in 1983 under Coach Jim Valvano, but they don’t match up real good with Purdue. The Boilermakers are 21-15-1 against the spread this season and 33-4 overall. Edey plays a unique style that’s hard to stop.
I can see NC State taking an early lead, but unable to stop Edey down low and the Boilermakers winning by a couple of baskets.
PGA Valero Open Best Bet: Ludvig Aberg Finish
Top 10 +275 at BetMGM
It’s the week before The Masters, when the PGA Tour takes over the sports headlines. The Tour is in San Antonio for the Valero Open and it’s a good field considering a lot of golfers take the week before The Masters off to rest. Max Homa is playing, so are Rory and Matt Fitzpatrick.
Aberg was an earlier pick for us to finish Top 10 this season and he came through. He was only even par in the first round, but the Swede has some serious game. He’s coming off an eighth place finish at the Players Championship and has already won over $3 million this season. He will be in The Masters next week after winning the Omega European Masters.
Aberg won two Big 12 titles in college at Texas Tech, so he’s familiar with the Texas wind. He’s going to get talked about a lot next week, get some good odds on him now while it lasts.
