Best Bets 2023 / 2024

Arizona takes on Texas in the 2023 World Series and we believe the Diamondbacks are a team on a mission. In college football, Eastern Michigan has won four in a row over Western Michigan, can they make it five in the annual battle for the Michigan MAC Trophy? Plus Michigan State travels to Minnesota trying to end a five-game losing streak.

World Series MVP Best Bet:

Corbin Carroll (+1100) at BetMGM

Corbin Carroll is about to have his national close-up on the World Series stage. The Diamondbacks outfielder will be the NL Rookie of the Year, after a season where he became the first MLB player with 10 triples, 25 homers and 50 stolen bases in a single season.

In the D-Backs series win over the Phillies, Carroll was clutch again. He’s batted .295 in the post-season and scored nine runs.

Carroll isn’t the favorite on the board to win World Series MVP – neither are the D-Backs – but this is a good bet because if Arizona wins the World Series, Carroll will be at the heart of it.

Western Michigan at Eastern Michigan Best Bet:

Eastern Michigan (+3) at DraftKings

The Eagles are 4-4 after a close loss to Northern Illinois, but they return home where they have won five straight. The Eastern defense is allowing just 18 points a game, but the offense has been one of the worst in the country averaging just 251 yards a game.

Western Michigan has lost three in a row after a tough loss to Ohio where they missed two field goals. Starting quarterback Hayden Wolff completed 30 passes for 290 yards in the loss.

Eastern Michigan has dominated this series lately, winning the last four games over the Broncos. They’ll get just enough offense to cover the spread in a low-scoring game.

Michigan State at Minnesota Best Bet:

Minnesota (-7) at FanDuel

When you’re lining up bets, you have to be cold-hearted, but its hard not to feel bad for what’s been happening at Michigan State. The Spartans have lost five in a row and each week look less interested. Michigan embarrassed them 49-0 last week. The coaching controversy has been too much to overcome.

Minnesota is still in the Big 10 West race after an upset of Iowa last week – helped by a controversial call on an Iowa punt return. Freshman running back Darius Taylor returned to the line-up after missing two games with a leg injury, and that’s all you’ll hear about that. Minnesota coach P.J. Fleck doesn’t talk about injuries for some reason. Taylor leads the Big Ten in rushing yards per game.

Minnesota beat State last year 34-7. The Golden Gophers aren’t great, but they still have something to play for and should cover this spread comfortably. State still has Ohio State and Penn State to play. Ugh.
