After some big moves this off-season, Red Wings fans are ready for another chase for the Stanley Cup.

Michigan sports betting sites are loaded up with specials on the upcoming season which starts October 10. BetMGM has markets on team points, player performances and the coveted award winners at the end of the season.

The Wings haven’t made the playoffs since 2016, but brought in bonafide scoring threat (and Michigan native) Alex DeBrincat to play on the first line and return young star defenseman Moritz Sieder. It doesn’t take long to find a futures bet on the Red Wings season to jump on. Here are a few we found at BetMGM Sportsbook.

The Big Goals for the Little Cat

With a last name DeBrincat, and just 5-foot-7, 165 pounds, it’s obvious what new Wings winger Alex DeBrincat nickname is. He’s The Cat.

Drafted in 2016, DeBrincat had five big seasons with Chicago, scoring 41 goals his second year, and 41 again in 2021-2022. Last year with Ottawa he had 27.

BetMGM Sportsbook pegs the total goas for The Cat at 35.5 (-115 each way). Detroit traded a 2024 first-round pick and a fourth-round pick to get him and signed him to a four-year $31.5 million deal. He’s expected to provide instant offense for a Wings power play that has struggled.

A Trophy for Seider?

The Norris Trophy goes to the top defenseman in the NHL and has direct ties to Detroit. The award carries the name of the Red Wings owner from 1932-1952 and Red Wings Hall of Famer Nicklas Lidstrom won seven Norris Trophies in his career.

Seider is considered one of the top defensemen in the game and won the Calder Trophy (top rookie) in 2022. This will be Seider’s third full season in the NHL. He had 50 points as a rookie and 42 last season. He’s physical and smart, and also good in the offensive zone. Seider is in the top 10 at BetMGM to win the Norris this year at +3500. It’s only a matter of time before he wins a Norris Trophy, this could be the year.

Wins for Husso

It’s been a long road to Detroit for goalie Ville Husso. He was drafted in 2014 but spent time playing professionally in Finland and then the American Hockey League (AHL) before breaking in with the St. Louis Blues in 2020-2021.  He started 38 games with the Blues in 2021-22 and won 25 games with a 2.56 goals against average.

The Red Wings picked him up from the Blues for a third-round pick and made him their top netminder. He started 56 games last year and went 26-22. His goals against average was high at 3.11, but Husso has the size of a great netminder at 6-foot-3, 209 pounds and will be the Wings man again.

BetMGM has Husso’s over/under total at 26.5 (-115 each way). The sportsbook also has a market on David Perron to score 20 plus goals this season the number of points (76.5) for Red Wings star Dylan Larkin. Larkin had a career best 79 points last season.
